Our Story
In 2023, as I was preparing for retirement and planning the next stage of life for me, I thought of homemade all-natural dog treats. Let me go back in my story.
As a pre-teen I loved baking. I would bake goodies that my family especially my dad would eat up. I baked cakes, cookies, and pies. I loved making my family happy by baking sweets. I just knew I would own my own bakery one day, but high school came along, and my interest changed and evolved. As an adult, I still would make the occasional cobbler or cookies but plans for opening a bakery never entered my mind. That is until I became a dog mom.
I had a Maltese, Mr. Cotton Beasly. He lived to be 13 1/2 years old until he grew a tumor which ended his life. I carried guilt because he could have and should have lived much longer. After dealing with "empty lap syndrome" (I made that up, I think lol), I was ready for my next fur baby. Enters Ms. Jasmine Louise aka Jippy, a Mal-shi. We welcomed her into our family at 9 weeks old in 2020. I knew it was imperative that I feed her healthy food and treats to ensure a long healthy life. I researched dog foods like crazy. I landed on a premium freeze-dried option packed with variety of meats, fish, fruits and vegetables. It's free of chemicals and fillers. Needless to say, Jippy loves her food! One day I realized I was feeding Jippy an expensive yet healthy food but giving her store-bought cheap treats filled with who knows what. That day, I started researching healthy options for dog treats and said, I can bake that, so I did! I baked several options which Jippy ate up like crazy. Every morning, she would stand by the refrigerator waiting for her daily treat and reacts to the aromas coming from my kitchen as I baked them! I then thought, other pups would love my treats too and Jippy Snacks was born.
